Charlie is Regina Lambert's (Thandie Newton) husband, whom she is about to divorce when he is murdered. She also discovers that all of the money that they had is gone, a mysterious stranger named Joshua Peters (Mark Wahlberg) shows up claiming the missing money as his own and wanting it back. The two are soon in a cat and mouse game along with several others who are after the truth about Charlie. Among the others in the chase are Lewis Bartholomew (Tim Robbins) and Il-Sang Lee (Joong-Hoon Park) and Lola Jansco (Lisa Gay Hamilton). Whether Regina discovers the truth or not she will wind up needing the help of Josh before the end of the chase.
